Valenti följer en god patriarkal tradition – jfr vad Daniel Defoe skrev om piratkopiering i The Review, 2 feberuari 1710: “A Book is the Author’s Property, ’tis the Child of his Inventions, the Brat of his Brain, ; if he sells his Property , it then becomes the Right of the Purchaser; if not, ’tis as much his own, as his Wife and Children are his own – But behold in this Christian Nation, these Children of our Heads are seiz’d, captivated, spirited away, and carry’d into Captivity, and there is none to redeem them.”

IPRED2 är en fortsättning på den här historien. Europaparlamentet har just röstat igenom att den som medverkar till uppsåtligt intrång i upphovsrätten och har en kommersiell fördel därav är en brottsling.

Spännande läsning. Har du sett den relativt nygjorda dokumentären om MPAA och Jack Valenti, This Film is not yet Rated. Om inte så rekomenderas den varmt för en inblick i MPAAs hemlighetsmakerier och suspekta bedömningssystem.
